What is Spirit? Here are some things that come to mind for me:
Spirit is the infinite wisdom—all that is. And as we are a part of what is, we, too are spirit.
Spirit is the voice of pure love—unadulterated by doubt, misgiving, cynicism, cattiness
Spirit is a force that flows in the direction of your highest good and the highest good for all concerned
Spirit is ever-present—regardless of whether we are aware of it or not
Spirit seems to make us hum at a higher level of vibration, when we plug into it, embrace it, seek its wisdom, allow it to enter in
Spirit is like a wellspring—an eternal source of ideas, inspiration and support
Spirit is the life force within everything—therefore it is fitting that we treat everything and everyone with reverence
What do you think Spirit is?
I know from my countless attempts to help people understand what coaching is, that when something is hard for people to grasp, it can be helpful to use a metaphor which compares that which is hard to define with the familiar.
I think Spirit is like a:
Booster Pack which you strap on for an unlimited source of support and inspiration.
Trip advisor—Onstar navigational system—because it knows right where you are at any given moment and knows the best way for you to proceed from there.
Career coach/counselor/consultant—helping you determine your calling or divine blueprint-what are you meant to contribute.
Business partner—a ready source of ideas, strategy, support
Communications consultant-helping you find the words to express what you are feeling in a way that others can hear. It’s almost as if you have someone whispering guidance in your ear.
Parent—providing unconditional love, wanting the best for you, supporting your growth and development by teaching lessons of self determination—eventually we learn that we are responsible for our own actions. We have free will.
Filmmaker/director-every night we are invited to a private screening of a movie or movies with a personal message. These films—our dreams—can be bizarre, entertaining, or downright scary. Picks the cast, the setting, rolls it out flawlessly without rehearsal
Minister/rabbi/spiritual director/guru/teacher---helps you find meaning, gives perspective, helps you get back on the path when you get derailed
Road crew-helps you blast through rock and other obstacles so you can to continue to build and travel your road.
How does Spirit work in your life? What woudl you compare it to?
