We can receive spiritual guidance quickly and easily.  It often comes in flashes of awareness.  In fact, during a visualization in one of my meditations I was handed a plastic credit-card-sized frequent traveler card. It had a magnetic strip and was supposed to work like an E-Z pass, allowing me instant access to the all-knowing spiritual realm.

You may have already developed or been given a way of tapping in and tuning in to receive guidance.  Stick with it if it’s working well.  Here’s my attempt to pinpoint steps in the process that works for me.

Intend The first step is to be clear about which challenge or area you’d like to receive guidance on.  Just as if you were going about an Internet search—there’s an infinite amount of wisdom available—you need to be able to narrow your search by determining your focus and selecting a topic.

Ask Next, you need to make a direct request and for help.  You may direct your request to the Universe, a specific angel or guide, your Highest Self—whatever feels right to you.

For example, just as I started writing this section I knew I’d had an insight, but then I couldn’t remember it.  It had slipped away.  I wanted it to return, so I asked for help from my guides and angels.  A spilt second later there it was.

Relax Surrender and be in a state of expectant waiting—Have a calm confidence that you will receive the answer you seek, but at the same time be detached from the outcome.  You allow wisdom to come to you, you can’t force it, but you must be in receiving mode or else you might miss it.

Patience is a good conductor.  One of the messages I’ve received (that I still resist J) is to revel in the journey and not be so anxious to arrive at the destination.  Trust divine timing.  All will be revealed and at the perfect time for us, though it may not always match our own timetable and preferences.

Receive  Be open and aware of everything that presents itself.  Messages may come in the form of visual images, sounds or voices, feelings in your body, or simply a knowing.  You may feel like you are making things up.  Don’t second guess your insights—doubt acts like a strong wind, shutting the door to additional wisdom coming through.  Instead, receive gratefully and graciously.

Record

Write down your experience—what happened, what you learned, and what you will do as a result.  It’s tempting to skip this step and move immediately into inspired action, but you may forget an important piece if you don’t capture it in the moment.  It’s also helpful to later document the outcome.  It’s powerful to periodically review the evidence you collect of the difference that accessing higher wisdom makes in your life.  It reinforces that this truly is the E-Ziest way to accomplish anything.
